چکیده

The problem considered is the Stokes and Navier-Stokes flow through a system of two pipes in the gravity field; inside a vertical pipe there is a free heavy piston. Theoretical analysis, the existence and non-uniqueness of solution, has been completed recently by the authors. Here we present numerical analysis, using finite elements methods, of the stationary state with respect to the angle between the two pipes, diameters of the pipes, search for solution of a full problem and search for bifurcation points. The analysis is carried out for both, 2D and 3D, and for Stokes and Navier-Stokes case. AMS subject classifications: 65N30, 65N99, 76D05

APPLICATION OF THE SINGULAR BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM FOR INVESTIGATION OF PISTON DYNAMICS UNDER POLYTROPIC EXPANSION PROCESS

In this paper a mathematical simulation of a simplified internal combustion engine is presented. To contribute engine kinematics and its geometry, simple relations are derived for constrained motions. The equation of motion for the piston forms a singular boundary value problem. The uniqueness of the solution was studied in the Banach space. For solving governing equations an iterative numerica...

On a Free Piston Problem for Stokes and Navier-stokes Equations

Our goal is to model and analyze a stationary fluid flow through the junction of two pipes in the gravity field. Inside ’vertical’ pipe there is a heavy piston which can freely move along the pipe. We are interested in the equilibrium position of the piston in dependence on geometry of junction. Fluid is modeled with the Navier-Stokes equations and the piston is modeled as a rigid body. We form...

An Investigation on the Effects of Gas Pressure Drop in Heat Exchangers on Dynamics of a Free Piston Stirling Engine

This paper is devoted to study the effects of pressure drop in heat exchangers on the dynamics of a free piston Stirling engine. First, the dynamic equations governing the pistons as well as the gas pressure equations for hot and cold spaces of the engine are extracted. Then, by substituting the obtained pressure equations into the dynamic relationships the final nonlinear dynamic equations gov...

The Complementary Functions Method (CFM) Solution to the Elastic Analysis of Polar Orthotropic Rotating Discs

This study primarily deals with introducing an efficient numerical technique called the Complementary Functions Method (CFM) for the solutions of the initial value problem for the linear elastic analysis of anisotropic rotating uniform discs. To bring the performance of the method to light, first, closed form formulas are derived for such discs. The governing equation of the problem at stake is...
